As part of the Belarusian Voyage project carried out together with Russian Railways, two tourist trains reached Belarus during the May holidays, the Belarusian Railways press service told BelTA.

Guests were offered excursion programs featuring cultural sites and attractions. “The first tourist train arrived in Belarus on 1-2 May, and the second on 9-10 May. During the May holidays, about 410 tourists visited Grodno, Brest and Minsk,” the press service noted.
In Brest, Russian guests went on tours to see cultural sites and attractions. Tourists visited the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex. According to them, visiting Brest Fortress on Victory Day leaves a lasting impression.

In Grodno, visitors enjoyed a stroll through the historic center, featuring the Old Castle and Kalozha Church, one of the city’s oldest religious sites. In Minsk, guests were also offered excursion programs. On 10 May, tourists visited the Khatyn memorial complex and explored the architectural heritage of Mir Castle and the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Nesvizh. The 1-2 May program for the first time took Russian guests to the tulip fields of Polesie.

“For tourists’ convenience, the train’s departure from Minsk was rescheduled for a later time. This decision allowed tourists to spend a free evening in Minsk: strolling around Minsk and buying Belarusian souvenirs, branded merchandise,” the press service noted.
The international project Belarusian Voyage, run by Russian and Belarusian rail operators was launched in August 2022. The project has already run 32 cruise trips and hosted 330 Russian tour groups.

According to Head of the Dortur tourism center of Belarusian Railways Alla Safonova, cooperation with Russian colleagues is expanding, which helps develop rail tourism within the Union State. It is good to see that these trips appeal to travelers and remain popular.

In July Russian tourists will visit Mogilev, Shklov and Gomel, and also experience lavender fields as part of the Gems of Belarus tour program.
