Belarus is in the top ten most popular destinations for Russian tourists in May. This data is provided on the website of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), a premier non-commercial organization uniting major tour operator companies across Russian regions, BelTA has learned.

“The removal of the UAE and Cuba from sales has not collapsed the holiday market in May, but has noticeably reshaped the travel preferences of Russians. The main beneficiaries have become Egypt, Vietnam, and China, while Belarus, for the first time in the history of monitoring, has made it to the top ten most popular destinations for May,” ATOR reported.

The monthly analysis, as before, is based on statistical data from search queries for tours and actual tour sales with arrivals from 1 to 31 May (as of the end of April).
The clear leader in May sales is Türkiye. It continues to account for more than a third of all bookings in the organized segment. Interest is also noted in short trips to visa-free destinations in nearby countries abroad.

“Unexpectedly (this has not happened in any year or month of monitoring), Belarus has rounded out the top ten in May with a share of 0.6% of all sales,” ATOR reported. “This is likely the effect of the short May holidays this year. Tour operators noted that the popularity of short city breaks to the neighboring country increased during these May holidays.”
