It was a private event, spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said when asked by Pavel Zarubin about Vladimir Putin's birthday celebration,  BelTA learned from the journalist’s Telegram channel.

“The CIS leaders got together in Novo-Ogaryovo to help Vladimir Putin celebrate his birthday. It was a private informal event. Although, as practice shows, substantive issues are always discussed during such get-togethers,” Dmitry Peskov said.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko also congratulated his counterpart on his birthday. Answering journalists' questions in the Kremlin, the Belarusian leader shared some details about the birthday gift he gave to the Russian president.

“A very elaborate gift, created by our artisans. I think you should ask Vladimir Vladimirovich. It [the gift] is unusual and special. I don't want to tell you more. A very thoughtful gift, painstakingly crafted by Belarusians who have a warm regard not only for Russia but also personally for the Russian president. I think he can show it to you. You will like it,” the head of state said.
