On October 8, 2026, in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, a citizen of the Republic of Belarus was injured as a result of an attack by a unmanned aerial vehicle on a truck with Belarusian registration.
Due to the severe injuries she sustained, she required surgical intervention, which included amputation of limbs. Currently, the victim is in the intensive care unit in an extremely serious but stabilized condition. She is connected to a mechanical ventilator. Medical assistance is being provided in full.
Diplomats from the Belarusian Embassy in Russia and the Embassy’s office in Smolensk provide the necessary assistance and maintain contact with local authorities and the medical facility.
We regret to state that such tragic incidents continue to occur. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus previously warned of the heightened danger and advised citizens to refrain from traveling to that area. However, these warnings did not have the desired effect. Today’s incident confirms the relevance of the recommendation.
The act committed is inhumane in nature. We see it as an attempt to escalate the situation in the region, as well as an integral part of coordinated actions aimed at drawing Belarus into the conflict.
