Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko sent a message of greetings to the participants of the Counter-Terrorism Forum which is running in Minsk on 7-8 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state noted that the Belarusian land is located at the historical crossroads of world routes and civilizations, and the Belarusian people know well the price of peace and calm.

“The fight against terrorism is at the forefront of the global security of countries and regions. Its coordinators and perpetrators recognize neither state nor moral borders, killing and maiming innocent civilians, including the elderly, women and children, using the most sophisticated and technologically advanced methods, including artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, cryptocurrencies, and closed segments of the global network used for propaganda, recruitment, financing and preparation of terrorist acts,” the message says.

The president emphasized that Belarus’ position remains unchanged: terrorism is a challenge that can only be tackled jointly, through close interaction among key political actors and coordinated action by the world's intelligence services. That was why, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, when Minsk hosted an international counterterrorism conference organized under the auspices of the UN in 2019, the Belarusian side proposed the idea of creating a united anti-terrorist front pooling the efforts of the UN, OSCE, CIS, CSTO, SCO and other international structures.

“I am convinced that the current forum, which is held in a special anniversary year, the year of the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Shanghai Convention on Combating Terrorism, will become one of the practical embodiments of our initiative and a logical wrap-up of the Eurasia Antiterror 2026, the joint anti-terrorist exercises of the SCO and the CIS,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

The president wished the participants of the event fruitful work and successful solutions contributing to the consolidation of the efforts of states in countering terrorism and extremism, and to strengthening mutual trust between special services in the name of peace and stability throughout Eurasia.
