Lukashenko meets with president of Turkmenistan

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met in the Awaza national tourist zone on 9 October ahead of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit, BelTA has learned.

A series of high-level ministerial and government meetings was held in Turkmenistan ahead of the summit. Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov discussed ways to expand trade, political, economic, transport, logistics, and humanitarian cooperation with their Turkmen counterparts.

In 2025, trade between Belarus and Turkmenistan reached $268.5 million, more than doubling compared to 2024. Belarus maintained a positive trade surplus of nearly $236 million. In 2025, trade in services exceeded $50 million, up by a quarter from the previous year. This strong growth momentum in Belarus-Turkmenistan cooperation continues in 2026.
