Lukashenko: Twin-city movement is a key element of Belarusian-Russian people’s diplomacy

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent a message of greetings to the participants of the 14th Forum of Twin Cities of Belarus and Russia which kicked off in Bobruisk on 9 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“The twin-city movement is one of the key elements of Belarusian-Russian people’s diplomacy, which expands areas of cooperation and gives a powerful impetus to integration processes,” the message reads. “Each such meeting is not only a dialogue of friends united by common tasks, but also an exchange of best practices between the regions of the two countries, a search for new formats and mechanisms of mutually beneficial partnership.”
The head of state noted that the agenda of the event contains a broad range of areas: economic cooperation, social projects and the growing role of culture and tourism as communicative tools for developing twinning relations. “This testifies to an unwavering and lively interest in strengthening friendship between our states. I am convinced that the current forum will become an effective platform for resolving many practical issues of Union State building,” he emphasized.
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished all participants the most pleasant impressions from getting acquainted with Bobruisk, one of Belarus’ authentic cities and constructive achievements and the attainment of their goals.
