Every kilowatt-hour produced at the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) should be used efficiently, Mikhail Malashenko, the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization – Director of the Energy Efficiency Department, said at the online conference "Belarus is an energy-efficient country" hosted by BelTA's press center.

“Power generated at the BelNPP has a price and production cost, and Belarus is to pay off a loan for it. Every kilowatt-hour produced at the BelNPP should be used in an efficient way. Every kilowatt-hour used domestically should bring profit. It is wrong to assume that the final consumer will get the power generated at the BelNPP for free and that we can afford to waste it,” Mikhail Malashenko said.
Electricity generated at the BelNPP will be mostly used domestically. “We have drawn up a special program for this and the government has taken appropriate decisions. We do not exclude that if our foreign partners make an attractive proposal to buy power generated at the BelNPP and this proves economically feasible, we might start exporting it,” he added.
