Lukashenko, Putin discuss security, upcoming events, visits over phone

The presidents of Belarus and Russia, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, had a telephone conversation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The heads of state focused on security issues and ways of preventing the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict.
The leaders also discussed the upcoming 11th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia, which will be hosted by Vitebsk Oblast this year, and the representation of the Russian delegation at this large-scale event.
Another topic of the conversation was the upcoming big and significant date - the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. Here, the presidents also discussed Russia's representation at the parade in Minsk on 3 July.
In terms of the international agenda, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin discussed the future summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana and agreed to have a meeting on the sidelines of the summit.
As for the economy, the Russian president informed his Belarusian counterpart about the work of the Russian Government to implement the agreements reached during his recent official visit to Minsk.
The parties also touched on the upcoming visit of the Belarusian president to Mongolia and Russia’s Irkutsk Oblast.
