Belarus, Russia’s Rostov Oblast set to boost agricultural ties

The parties noted steady growth in mutual trade and identified new areas for a technological partnership. According to the press service, Rostov Oblast ranks 11th among 79 Russian regions in terms of agricultural trade with Belarus. By the end of 2025, mutual trade in food and raw materials increased 1.3-fold, with the growth rate of Belarusian exports reaching nearly 150%. This momentum continued in January-July 2026, with trade up by 2.3% and exports rising by 11.2%.

Belarus exports a wide range of products to the region, from cheese, whole milk products, and meat to vegetables and confectionery. There is also potential to further increase shipments. Inbound flows include sunflower oil, flour, fish, and oilseeds.

During the talks, the parties focused on technological equipment, looking into opportunities to expand machinery supplies for upgrading dairy complexes and products from the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation. The Rostov delegation will visit the enterprises to study their product range and manufacturing capabilities.

Cooperation also continues in science and education. Agreements on joint research, publications, and exchange of experience are in place between agricultural universities. Belarus is also ready to ensure supplies of breeding stock and continue exporting vegetable seeds. “The value of contacts lies in identifying key competencies and building deep, mutually beneficial cooperation on their basis. Interaction with Rostov Oblast will continue in milk processing, biotechnology, and the digitalization of agriculture,” the Ministry of Agriculture and Food added.
