Lukashenko meets with Belarusian law enforcers ahead of CSTO summit

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has met will law enforcers to discuss key military and political issues ahead of the CSTO Collective Security Council summit which is due to take place in Minsk on 23 November, BelTA has learned.

Attending the meeting are State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich, Chairman of the State Security Committee Ivan Tertel, Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin and Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Vladimir Kupriyanyuk.

“As you all know, the day after tomorrow we will be hosting a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, of which Belarus is an active member. I would like to consult on a number of military and political issues, and primarily on defense and security issues, and listen to the problematic matters that we may have today in our relations with the CSTO members,” the president said.

As BelTA earlier reported with reference to the press service of the CSTO Secretariat, the CSTO Collective Security Council summit will be held in Minsk on 23 November 2023 under the chairmanship of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The members of the CSTO Collective Security Council will discuss pressing international and regional security issues, define future tasks, and adopt a number of documents aimed at ensuring the interests of collective security.

A joint meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council, the CSTO Defense Ministers Council and the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils will take place on 22 November 2023.
