Harvesting, sowing of winter crops, state procurement in agriculture minister’s report to Lukashenko

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has heard a report from Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

The head of state was informed about the completion of the harvesting of cereals, about the sowing of winter crops, and about the placement of newly harvested crops into stabilization funds. The agriculture and food minister stated that as much as 99.8% of the areas under cereals and leguminous crops have been harvested. Over 9.1 million tonnes of grain has been produced, including rapeseed.

There are plans to sow winter cereals on an area of 1.5 million hectares and winter rapeseed on an area of over 450,000 hectares to secure the next year’s harvest. The campaign to sow winter crops is in full swing now. Instructions have been given to finish it by 5 October at the latest.

Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the removal of straw from the fields, to the observation of the necessary timeframe and quality of soil tillage while observing all the technologies. Meanwhile, Belarusian farmers have started gathering in vegetables, including potatoes and sugar beet.

The head of state wondered about the progress of placing the harvested vegetables into the stabilization funds. The state procurement order has to be fulfilled by 15 November. The minister assured that it will be done on time.
