Belarusian Railways' export freight shipment up 29% in January-February 2021

According to the operational data, in January-February 2021 the export freight shipment through Belarusian Railways increased by 28.7% over the same period last year and amounted to 7.9 million tonnes, BelTA learned from the press center of Belarusian Railways.

Belarusian Railways transported 18.2 million tonnes of cargo, or 100.5% as against the first two months of the previous year.

According to preliminary data, in January-February 2021, freight handling rose by 10.2% over the same period of 2020 to 12.6 million tonnes. Belarusian Railways reported an increase in handling of chemical and mineral fertilizers, oil products, industrial commodities, grain, construction and forest products, stone coal, and other goods.

Freight turnover equaled 6.35 billion tariff tonne-kilometers, up 1.6%.
