‘Russia and Belarus are united by a common historical past, a common feat during the years of war, in the history of which white spots remain’ said the Director of the Institute of Russian History. 'The task of our historical community today is to outline new directions of research that stem from our lives. A topic that is much talked about now is the Nazis' crimes against the peaceful Soviet population. It has been established that casualties among civilians were much more numerous than even at the front', noted Yuri Petrov.
In addition to representatives of the Belarusian scientific historical community, the International Forum united historians from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kursk, Smolensk, Tambov and Tula regions, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Chuvashia and the Chechen Republic, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
