The speaker of the House of Representatives, Igor Sergeyenko, has said that one should not forget that it was the Soviet soldier who emancipated Europe from Nazism, which many politicians try to forget today. He said this to journalists before the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Great Victory for Peace and Creation" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The scientific forum opened today at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, reports the correspondent of Soyuz.by.

Igor Sergeenko noted the greatness of the Soviet people's feat in the Great Patriotic War, as well as the impact of this victory on the development of the entire European continent.
The head of the lower house of the Belarusian parliament emphasized, "This Victory the Soviet Union won at a tremendous cost in human lives." He also recalled the recent large-scale forum held in Volgograd, dedicated to preserving historical memory and the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War.
Igor Sergeenko emphasized the necessity of holding such conferences to exchange experience within the scientific community, to prevent the distortion of history, and to preserve the memory of the Soviet people's heroic feat during the Great Patriotic War.
