In the past Year of Peace and Creation, Belarusians have become spiritually stronger and even more confident, especially against the background of the events that are happening around us – as stated today by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at the Palace of the Republic during the ceremony of presenting the Spiritual Revival awards, special prizes to art luminaries and the Belarusian Sports Olympus awards.

Addressing the award winners, participants and guests of the ceremony, the Head of State congratulated everyone on New Year and Christmas and noted that today we are honouring unusually talented, sensitive, and sincerely dedicated Belarusians, “It is also thanks to them that we have achieved our goals in the Year of Peace and Creation, thus becoming spiritually stronger and even more confident, especially against the background of the events that are happening around us. It is obvious to us that peace is the most important value for any nation, especially for Belarusian people, since we know its value.”

The winners of the special prizes to art luminaries include the team of authors from the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA) and the National State TV and Radio Company. According to the President, their projects – Last Witnesses and Genocide Without the Right to Life – are a tribute to the memory of the innocent victims and heroes of the Great Patriotic War, “Today we thank the team of authors of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Belarusian Telegraph Agency and the National State TV and Radio Company, who felt deeply all the pain and suffering of the people of the war. These films are a chronicle of terrible crimes that we will not allow ourselves and those who bear historical responsibility for them to forget. Our memory is a guarantee of peace in the future. If we forget this, as I already said, if we forget the road to the temples and monuments of that war, a new war will spark.”
