Kochanova, Mezentsev discuss Belarus-Russia interregional cooperation

Speaker of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova met with State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev, BelTA has learned.

"We reviewed the status of interregional cooperation, the involvement of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the regions of Belarus in the work to implement the Union State Treaty, the results of which were summed up by the Union State Council of Ministers at a meeting on 29 November," Dmitry Mezentsev said.
Dmitry Mezentsev briefed Natalya Kochanova about the results of the meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers and the proposals made by the parties.
Dmitry Mezentsev said that the Union State Council of Ministers approved a draft decree of the Supreme State Council, which defines the strategic cooperation between Belarus and Russia for the next three years. He stressed that the Standing Committee of the Union State, in cooperation with the parties, is preparing a meeting of the Supreme State Council due next year.
Dmitry Mezentsev noted that the draft plans for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the 25th anniversary of the Union State Treaty in 2024 have been sent to the federal executive bodies of the Russian Federation and the government bodies of the Republic of Belarus.
"Natalya Kochanova noted that the Council of the Republic is preparing for the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which will be held in Vitebsk Oblast in June of next year," the state secretary stressed.
Dmitry Mezentsev stressed the importance of the main topic of the forum. "Innovation is very important for the Union State, crucial for the technological sovereignty and competitiveness of our two countries," he said.
