EAEU prime ministers to meet in Yerevan on 9 October

A face-to-face session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will be held in Yerevan on 9 October with the participation of the prime ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union countries, Iya Malkina, Aide to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, told a press briefing, BelTA has learned.

“The heads of government of the four states of the Eurasian Economic Union will meet in Yerevan on 9 October," Iya Malkina said. She noted that the participation of the representative of Kyrgyzstan has not yet been confirmed. “We have received confirmations from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. At the moment we are waiting for the information from Kyrgyzstan on the format of participation. The Eurasian Economic Commission, for its part, is working to ensure the legal compliance of the decisions to be adopted at the meeting,” she said.

According to her, the prime ministers will focus on the sanitary and epidemiological situation and resumption of passenger traffic in the EAEU. The positions that remain uncoordinated regarding the Eurasian integration development strategy will be reviewed. Removal of exemptions and restrictions in the EAEU domestic market for 2018-2019 will be considered too.

In addition, the prime ministers will consider the regulation of cross-border e-commerce of goods in the EAEU and joint export development measures. The prime ministers will also review the candidacy for the post of the Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), which will later be submitted for approval to the heads of state. Iya Malkina recalled that Serik Zhumangarin, who previously held this post, was appointed chairman of the Competition Development and Protection Agency of Kazakhstan on 14 September.
