Almost 60 countries have reported the discovery of a new, more infectious strain of the coronavirus, known as ‘stealth omicron’. The medical practitioner confirmed that stealth omicron spreads faster than classical omicron VA.1. Furthermore, compared to omicron, the new strain is characterised by slightly different symptoms. The previous strain delta was characterised by absence of smell and taste, but when infected with stealth-omicron, the absence of smell and taste can be observed.
In addition, the new strain of coronavirus stealth-omicron provokes gastrointestinal disorders similar to those of delta. According to Elena Gasich, in order to draw conclusions about the clinical course of the disease, a long period of time and a large sample are required. The expert asserts that only one month of cases of stealth omicron is known. Furthermore, the data are based on observations in countries with a very high level of collective immunity, i.e. vaccination.
