Tatarstan ranked fourth among all Russian regions represented on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) in terms of milk powder imports in January-February 2026, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service Belta has learned.

In January-February 2026, the value of exchange transactions for whole and skimmed milk powder concluded by Tatarstan’s trading participants reached $2.2 million. Alongside Tatarstan, the top five largest Russian buyers of Belarusian milk powder also included Leningrad Oblast, Moscow Oblast, Smolensk Oblast, and Amur Oblast. This was reported by Yaroslav Kovalchuk, Head of BUCE’s Foreign Economic Activity Department during the Hour with the Trade Representative webinar organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan together with the Russian trade mission in Belarus.

According to the BUCE representative, Belarus and Tatarstan have significant potential to deepen cooperation on the exchange platform. This includes both expanding trade in traditional categories such as milk powder, butter, and meat products, and introducing new commodities whose exchange trading would meet the economic interests of both parties.

“Last year demonstrated strong interest from Tatarstan’s business community in using the exchange platform to operate on the Belarusian market. Nineteen new business entities from Tatarstan joined the exchange: a record figure for this Russian region. In addition, the range of meat and dairy products supplied from Belarus to Tatarstan expanded, and the first transactions were completed for the sale of polyethylene film and components for textile equipment to Belarusian buyers. At the same time, there are still many goods not yet involved in mutual exchange trading. These include feed additives, oilseed seeds and meal, chemical and petrochemical products, as well as industrial and consumer goods. We expect that this year we will be able to cover these promising categories and ensure strong positive growth in transaction volumes,” Yaroslav Kovalchuk said.

As of 11 March 2026, BUCE accredited 60 resident companies from Tatarstan.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
