This is the first agreement at the level of relevant industry associations of the two countries in the field of electric mobility. The document was signed in Minsk on 26 May.
Under the agreement, the associations will establish a working group to coordinate initiatives aimed at developing the sector in both countries, including drafting common technical and quality standards, promoting harmonized state support measures and creating a unified space for the use of charging infrastructure within the Union State.
Belarus and Russia jointly plan to expand their fleet of fully electric vehicles to more than 1.3 million units and increase the number of charging stations to over 80,000 by 2030.
“Both countries have already come a long way in developing electric mobility. The exchange of practices and synchronization of efforts will help avoid repeating mistakes and prevent barriers from emerging between the markets,” Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Electric Transport Association Sergei Khudoyeshko said.
“Belarus and Russia are developing e-mobility programs, and each country faces the same challenges: how to stimulate demand, subsidize infrastructure and determine which technical standards to use. We intend to advance joint initiatives in dialogue with government authorities in our countries, relying on the best practices of both sides. This will help create a common electric transport market and minimize borders and barriers for electric vehicle users,” Chairman of the Association of Manufacturers and Operators of Electric Charging Stations Armen Safaryan said.
