“This appeal from U.S. President Donald Trump signifies a recognition of the high status of our head of state and the Republic of Belarus in matters of conflict resolution and the pursuit of peace promotion in all regions. Belarus enjoys high status and recognition among key centers of power, which include the United States. However, under these circumstances, it is important to understand that when creating new structures of this kind, the main point is that they must not repeat the fate of the League of Nations, which existed between the two world wars. Instead, they must be genuinely focused on bringing peace and order to the Middle East and, of course, contribute to the resolution of other armed conflicts, excluding the use of war as a tool to solve tasks and satisfy the interests of large corporations and banks,” Aleksei Avdonin said.
He also drew attention to the fact that Donald Trump is very eager to enter the history of the United States and all of humanity as the one who brought peace to planet Earth. “To achieve such goals, some international structures are needed to popularize and promote this idea. It is for this purpose that the possibility of creating this new structure is being considered. But we understand perfectly well that prior to launching this initiative, the USA withdrew from many agreements within the UN framework and effectively cut the funding budget for this organization. Thereby, it created conditions to undermine the organization that was created immediately after World War II. This is evidence that the United States is trying to create a certain new reality, a new format of international relations. And this, of course, undermines current international law (primarily in the field of security), diminishes the role of the UN Security Council, and creates very dangerous precedents in matters of resolving any armed conflicts,” the expert emphasized.
As BelTA reported earlier, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko received a personal address from Donald Trump. In the address, the Republic of Belarus is proposed, in the context of settling the situation in Gaza, to become a founding member of the Board of Peace, a new international organization. In turn, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the country is ready to participate in the Board of Peace’s activities, hoping that this organization will expand its scope and authority far beyond the mandate outlined in the initiative. This will enable it to take an active part in global processes aimed at resolving any international conflicts.
