Gryzlov: Belarus, Russia are looking for import substitution opportunities together

Belarus and Russia are looking for and using import substitution opportunities together, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Belarus Boris Gryzlov said during his visit to BelAZ, BelTA learned from the press service of the enterprise.

BelAZ Director General Sergei Nikiforovich told the Russian diplomat about advanced production technologies and new mining equipment by BelAZ, efforts to expand and intensify cooperation with Russian companies. In turn, Boris Gryzlov highlighted the importance and relevance of technological advancements, innovative solutions and active cooperation between Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ) and partners from Russia. “It is gratifying that many Russian enterprises supply their components here. We have teamed up to look for import substitution opportunities, and, what is very important, we are already exploiting emerging opportunities. Time has given us the opportunity to increase production localization to 100% and not depend on Western and Eastern suppliers,” the ambassador said.

At the enterprise, Boris Gryzlov was offered a test drive of a BELAZ all electric 90 tonne mining truck prototype and was very impressed with it. “This is the world's leading manufacturer of mining equipment,” the Russian ambassador said and wished success to the team.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the BelAZ holding company. BelAZ is the world's largest manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. BelAZ accounts for some 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
