Belarusian Viktor Goncharenko became head coach of Nizhny Novgorod football club

Belarusian specialist Viktor Goncharenko has been appointed head coach of football club Nizhny Novgorod, reports the official telegram channel of the National Olympic Committee.

The contract with the Nizhny Novgorod team was signed for two years. 

The press service reminded that under Viktor Goncharenko's leadership BATE is a six-time champion of Belarus, winner of the Cup of the country and three times - the Super Cup of the country. With him, the team from Borisov three times reached the group stage of the Champions League and twice - in the 1/16 finals of the Europa League. 

In addition, the Belarusian specialist has been recognised as the best football coach of Belarus eleven times.

In Russia, Viktor Goncharenko coached Krasnodar Kuban, CSKA Moscow, Ufa and Krasnodar. His last place of work was Ekaterinburg ”Ural”, which the coach headed from 2022 to 2024. It was also noted that at the moment ”Nizhny Novgorod” is in 12th place in the Russian championship.

”We need to do everything to bring the fan back to the stadium. It is clear that we also need to modify something in the game. We need to try to win and try to make the players develop,” Viktor Goncharenko said.
