Belarus-Russia regional forum kicks off in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod

The 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia begins its work in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, BelTA has learned.

The forum will run until 27 June. This year’s theme is “The Youth of Belarus and Russia – Heirs of the Great Victory and the Future of the Union State”. It is organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
Participants are arriving in Nizhny Novgorod today. They will have the opportunity to network, discuss future joint projects, and explore the city.
On 26 June, an exhibition of economic achievements of the regions of Belarus and Russia will open, along with a trade fair, a creative technologies forum. The signing of cooperation agreements, commercial contracts, and other documents aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation will also take place.
A joint meeting between the governing bodies of the Chamber of Young Legislators under the Federation Council and the Youth Council under the Council of the Republic is also scheduled for 26 June. On the same day, section meetings of the forum will take place, covering the following topics: legal cooperation as a condition for effective integration of Russia and Belarus within the Union State; interregional cooperation and interaction between local self-government bodies of Russia and local administration bodies of Belarus: experience and prospects; the role of youth organizations in developing cross-border ties between Russia and Belarus; Russia-Belarus cooperation in the agro-industrial complex as a key factor in ensuring the Union State’s food security; industrial cooperation as a factor in achieving technological sovereignty of the Union State; the contribution of culture and educational activities to the Great Victory and their role in shaping the future of the Union State; youth policy of the Union State as a reliable foundation for the demographic development of Russia and Belarus.
A session of the Accounts Chamber of Russia and the State Control Committee of Belarus titled “Social support for the population: the role of external state audit institutions” and a joint event of the chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Russia to discuss promising business cooperation projects between Russian and Belarusian regions as a foundation for the well-being of future generations will be held on 26 June.
A meeting between Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko and Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova with youth representatives from Russia and Belarus is scheduled for 26 June.
On 27 June, Valentina Matviyenko and Natalya Kochanova are set to meet with leaders of government bodies from the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the regions of the Republic of Belarus. The plenary session of the 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia “The Youth of Belarus and Russia – Heirs of the Great Victory and the Future of the Union State” will also take place on 27 June.
The forum will feature numerous exhibitions, festivals, performances, and concerts.
