In January-May 2025, the Belarusian airline Belavia carried 6% more passengers year-on-year, Belavia Director General Igor Cherginets said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

"In 2024, we carried 13% more passengers than in 2023. Despite our fleet size remaining the same (without including the long-haul Airbus A330-200 yet), we increased our passenger numbers by 6% in January-May of this year. Today, I am proud to say that over the past two decades, our airline has remained profitable, except for 2020, which was due to the impact of COVID-19. Even then, the losses we experienced were not very significant," the Belavia director stated.

He emphasized that Belavia remains profitable without financial assistance from the government. "We receive moral support from the government and the head of state, as well as help with technical issues. However, we have not received any financial aid, unlike other airlines. And perhaps that was the right decision, as it keeps us competitive, and we are doing well," Igor Cherginets added.
