Oman seeks closer cooperation with Belarus

Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi held a meeting with Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation Hamood bin Salim bin Abdullah Altowaiya in Moscow on 6 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

“The heads of the diplomatic missions discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda, the schedule of upcoming contacts between Minsk and Muscat, cooperation in politics, trade and economy, and development of the legal and contractual framework. They praised the effective work of the chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Oman. The ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman said that the business community of his country was interested in cooperation with Belarusian partners,” the press service stated.

Ambassador Hamood bin Salim bin Abdullah Altowaiya noted that fertilizers and dairy products were the most in-demand Belarusian goods on the Omani market. He also mentioned Belarus’ well-developed IT sector and cooperation in medicine. The heads of the diplomatic missions emphasized the importance of boosting trade through better logistics.

“Dmitry Krutoi, in turn, highlighted the importance of developing the legal and contractual framework and signing a number of documents that are currently under consideration by the parties. These documents cover economy and trade sectors, and provide for visa facilitation,” the embassy added.
