The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, together with the National Press Center, held an off-site event for Belarusian journalists on the topic "The 'Smart Holidays' Strategy: a synergy of creative leisure, physical education, and university career-guidance practices." Journalists familiarized themselves with the work of educational institutions during the autumn holidays, reports a Soyuz.by correspondent.

Autumn holidays in Belarus run from November 1 to 8. As noted by the Head of the Main Directorate of Ideological and Educational Work and Youth Policy of the Ministry of Education, Viktor Dovnar, the ministry has prepared regulatory documents on organizing the holiday period. The main task of educational institutions is to make children's rest educational, interesting, and active.

"Across the country, more than 2,000 camps operate at schools during the holiday period, as well as country camps. During the holidays, they are expected to cover about 68 thousand students. Educational institutions have organized a number of events aimed both at organizing leisure and at promoting a healthy lifestyle and instilling useful skills," noted the representative of the Ministry of Education.

Among the national projects, Viktor Dovnar highlighted "A Day at the University": all universities in the country operate in career-guidance mode, and any 11th-grade student can visit a higher education institution, familiarize themselves with a future specialty, and feel like a student for a day. Another significant project is "We Learn. We Are Proud. We Preserve," within the framework of which schoolchildren travel around the country and study the historical and heroic past of Belarus. "For the children, this is an event that connects, unites, and makes friendship even stronger," he noted.

In addition, educational institutions actively interact with socio-cultural institutions — theaters, cinemas, museums. Schoolchildren can visit the National Library, the Bolshoi Academic Theater, the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, as well as regional museums and theaters that offer their programs.

The Director of the State Educational Institution "Secondary School No. 225 of Minsk," Tatyana Kachan, said that school holidays are not only about the work of the camp. "The school has organized a health camp covering 82 people. Among them there is a military-patriotic detachment for students in grades 5-7 and a career-guidance detachment for grades 8-9, working within the framework of the city program 'Career Autumn' in the mechanical engineering profile. The remaining 47 students are, as a rule, pupils of grades 1-4," noted the director.

In addition to the work of the camp, each homeroom teacher, subject teacher, and school specialist organizes various activities and events for the children: visits to socio-cultural organizations, excursions, visits to universities, colleges, and enterprises. Interest-based clubs also continue to operate during the holidays.
