A delegation from Saint Petersburg is visiting Brest Oblast from 27 to 29 October. This morning, Governor of Brest Oblast Piotr Parkhomchik and Alexander Beglov laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in the Brest Fortress and observed a moment of silence to honor the defenders of the Fatherland. The Russian guests were then taken on a guided tour of the memorial complex and the War Museum: Territory of Peace exhibition.
“The immortal feat of the heroic defenders of the Brest Fortress will be remembered forever as a symbol of courage and devotion to the Motherland. As the first to face the enemy, they fought to their last breath for the freedom of their native land. Their memory is especially honored in the Hero City of Leningrad, which endured the years of the enemy blockade,” the governor of Saint Petersburg wrote. “I would like to thank the staff of the memorial complex for preserving the historical truth and the memory of those heroic days.”
The visit has a packed schedule, including official meetings, talks, and visits to several enterprises. Representatives of the Russian delegation will also visit the youth patriotic center and the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park.
