The fuel company TVEL (part of Rosatom) intends to advance cooperation with Belarus in the field of electric mobility. President of AO TVEL Natalia Nikipelova made the statement during the 8th applied science conference “Electric transport: Reality and prospects” on the sidelines of the Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum, BelTA has learned.

Natalia Nikipelova noted the high level of interaction in many areas and the considerable potential for joint work. Last year Rosatom commissioned the first gigafactory in Russia to make lithium-ion energy storage systems for electric transport and stationary power systems while the second one has been commissioned this year. “We are ready to localize this manufacturing process in Belarus in partnership with the Belarusian side. I am confident that it will involve more than the localization of our technology. There will be joint R&D efforts,” the president of AO TVEL noted, adding that the product requires constant improvement.

There is also interest in interaction in the field of manufacturing electric drives for passenger electric vehicles and in other areas, including the matter of mobile charging stations with energy storage systems.

Natalia Nikipelova added: “Belarusian industry has serious competences. If we join efforts, it will benefit our economies. We are open to cooperation proposals.”

The conference has been organized by the Belarusian Energy Ministry, the Belarusian state industrial group Belenergo, and the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom.
