The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe needs to return to its professional duties. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu, reports the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"I hold the view that a multipolar world and diversity are what our planet needs today. In your heart, I am sure, you adhere to this principle. You are an experienced person. In your time, this idea was laid down - cooperation of different countries, cooperation of everyone with everyone, dialogue and conversation. Therefore, your visit to our conference is not accidental. We greatly appreciate this," said the President. "As for the OSCE, I must say that we have an ambiguous attitude toward this organization for reasons known to you. But, discussing the role of the OSCE professionally, I would like to say that we will always fight to ensure that our Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe returns to its professional duties and works in the direction of security and cooperation."

"For several years now, there has been a war in Europe. For the OSCE, this is a serious challenge. There has been no reaction from this organization. Maybe there is one, but I know nothing about it. But it would be necessary for the heads of OSCE member states to know about it," noted the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that the OSCE has slid onto the rails of a certain criticism only in one direction and of the same states. For example, the OSCE sends an observer mission to elections, during the electoral campaign, with pre-prepared reports. It is obvious to everyone what the OSCE will say in Russia and Belarus and what the organization, the OSCE secretariat, will say about elections in Western countries, the President stated.

One example is the elections to the US Congress, where the OSCE is not present at all; observers were not allowed through the door there. "How should we treat this?" the head of state wondered. "We treat it calmly."

"I will repeat once again: the organization must deal with security and cooperation in Europe. Maintain and restore order in our common home, the European home. Well, the Americans thought and decided: if we cannot restore order in our own home, why go to some other home and observe some issues," said the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the special role of the OSCE and warned: "We very much do not want the OSCE to repeat all the mistakes of the UN." The President noted that many professional people work in the OSCE who understand what is happening and will act in the right direction. "Proof of this is your visit to Belarus and attendance at this conference. This is a serious signal to others," said Alexander Lukashenko, addressing the OSCE Secretary General.
