Karpenko: Cooperation helps CIS CECs develop national electoral systems

Interaction helps the Central Election Commissions (CECs) of the CIS member states develop national electoral systems taking into account present-day developments, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Igor Karpenko said as he met with Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev in Minsk on 23 February, BelTA has learned.

“I am happy that we are meeting today in Minsk. I am especially pleased with the launch of the Advisory Board of Heads of CIS Election Administration Authorities. This interaction, communication is very important for us in order to further develop our electoral systems, taking into account the social and political realities inside the country and around it,” Igor Karpenko said.

On 24 February, CECs of Belarus and Uzbekistan are expected to sign a protocol on cooperation.
