Belarusian ambassador meets with Apostolic Nuncio to Russia in Moscow

Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi met with Apostolic Nuncio to the Russian Federation Archbishop Giovanni d'Aniello in Moscow on 7 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

"The parties highlighted the traditionally constructive and friendly nature of relations between Belarus and the Holy See," the press service noted. "The Belarusian Ambassador thanked the Apostolic Nuncio for the balanced and consistent position of the Vatican on such issues as the protection of family values, countering violence, ensuring the right to work and a number of others."

"Ways of maintaining peace and mutual understanding between countries and peoples were also on the agenda of the meeting. Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi recalled Pope Francis's call, that he made in Kazakhstan in September 2022, on the need for a new ‘spirit of Helsinki', the determination to strengthen multilateralism, to build a more stable and peaceful world. The Belarusian Ambassador noted the significant contribution of the Pontiff to the preservation of peace and his focus on political dialogue. The ambassador stressed that Belarus fully shares these approaches of Pope Francis," the embassy added.
