Belarus will take part in the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Andrei Savinykh told BelTA.

According to him, the preparation for the session was extremely tense and challenging. "81 MPs opposed issuing visas to Russian and Belarusian delegations. Following the decision to issue visas, Poland and Lithuania refused to participate in the winter session," Andrei Savinykh said.

“We think that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly should be an impartial, peaceful forum where MPs can discuss the situation and problems related to security in the Greater Europe region in an unbiased, objective manner. Otherwise the situation will be deteriorating,” Andrei Savinykh noted. “We are headed to Vienna to suggest that our Western partners calm down and act rationally in the interests of Europe. Everyone knows that security cannot be provided at the expense of a neighbor," Andrei Savinykh noted.

The winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is due in Vienna on 23-24 February.
