“The ninth session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the seventh convocation is drawing to a close. It was not like any other session in terms of its duration and the importance of the decisions made. A hybrid war is going on against our country and its purpose is to destroy out statehood and national identity. The entire arsenal of means is involved - from information warfare to economic strangulation,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
In view of the Constitutional reform, the session lasted more than nine months. “This allowed the deputies to promptly resolve issues that have an impact on every Belarusian, from constitutional reform to urgent changes in education and medicine. We have adopted and revised more than a hundred legislative acts,” the speaker noted. “Whatever bills we discuss in the Oval Hall, we always look at how they can contribute to maintaining sovereignty, peaceful development and social justice, i.e. democratic values that underpin our national idea, according to the president,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
“Massive, scrupulous work has been done. All structures of power and civil society took part in it. It is fundamentally important that parliamentary practice takes on board the opinions contributed by the general public. The main result of the session was bringing the legislation into line with the updated Constitution. The main tasks have been completed. The scope of activities of the Belarusian People's Congress has been formalized. The powers of key government agencies have been adjusted. A new political architecture and the necessary conditions have been created for the upcoming elections. At the same time, the work on the laws that are to be adopted in elaboration of the Constitution (there are about ten of them) must be completed as soon as possible. Such a task was set by the head of state,” Vladimir Andreichenko concluded.
