Team of Belarusian and Siberian Scientists Becomes Laureate of the Koptyug Prize

The team of Belarusian and Siberian scientists has become the laureate of the 2020 Academician Valentin Koptyug Prize for the series of works “Management of inheritance, material and product surface quality assurance in resource-saving technologies”. This decision was taken on May 29th, 2020, at the Belarusian NAS Presidium meeting.

On the Belarusian side, the winners are: Sergey Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, academician, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor; Tatyana Kuznetsova, Deputy Head of the Nanoprocesses and Technologies Laboratory of A.V. Lykov Institute of Heat and Mass Exchange of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Science Engineering, associate professor; Vladimir Borodavko, General Director of NPO Center; Mikhail Kheifets, Director of the Applied Physics Institute of the NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Engineering Science, professor; Nikolai Gretsky, Head of the Scientific-Technological Programmes and Projects Division at NPO Center.
On the Russian side, the prize was awarded to Anatoly Bataev, Principal of Novosibirsk State Technical University, Doctor of Engineering Science, professor; Alexey Panin, Head of the Surface Physics Laboratory at the Physics of Strength and Materials Science Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr. Sci. in Physics and Mathematics, associate professor; Alexey Kolmakov, leading research scientist at the Physics of Strength and Materials Science Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Engineering Science; Andrei Krechetov, Principal of T.F.Gorbachev Kuzbass State Technical University, Candidate of Science Engineering, associate professor and Valery Blumenstein, Professor of the Engineering Technology Department at T.F.Gorbachev Kuzbass State Technical University, Doctor of Engineering Science, professor.
The fundamental results of the research carried out by Siberian and Belarusian scientists have found extensive application in design, manufacture and operation of heavy-loaded equipment used to mine solid minerals in the north of Siberia as well as to process mineral raw materials in Belarus (OJSC NPO Center, NAS of Belarus); in long-term operation, maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment and mine machinery in Kuzbass (T.F.Gorbachev Kuzbass State Technical University); in device manufacture and development of methods for analyzing material and surface structures in Belarus and Russia (A.V. Lykov Institute of Heat and Mass Exchange, NAS of Belarus), in resource loss analysis and prevention of critical parts destruction (Physics of Strength and Materials Science Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences), as well as in nanotechnology design, manufacture of medical and special-purpose materials and products (NSTU).
The Prize named after Academician Valentin Koptyug (1931-1997), who was an outstanding scientist, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, is awarded to Belarusian and Russian researchers for achieving outstanding results in joint research as part of interstate programmes, as well as for joint scientific works, scientific discoveries and inventions that are important for science and in real life.
This prize has been awarded annually since 1999 by the Presidiums of the NAS of Belarus and the Siberian Branch of the RAS alternately. This year the competition has been held by the NAS of Belarus.
