Preserving the land clean for future generations is the goal of Belarus-Russia environmental cooperation, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko told the media on the sidelines of the 3rd Ecology Expo in Minsk, BelTA learned.

He noted that Belarus is the "lungs of Europe". "We take pride in the fact that environmental protection is addressed at the highest level in our country," Yuri Shuleiko emphasized.

According to him, the expo will serve as the venue for negotiations and discussions. "With Russia, we are discussing the environmental policy that we, as neighboring countries, must pursue together for many years to come," the deputy prime minister noted. He added that this is needed for keeping the land clean for future generations.

It was noted that Belarus implements a range of annual programs related to ecology. These include land restoration initiatives, waste sorting and recycling, forestry management, clearance of windfall debris, and urban and rural greening projects.

The 3rd Ecology Expo, held under the motto "Green Innovations for a Sustainable Future”, kicked off in Minsk on 19 August and will be running for three days. The expo is set to host representatives of government bodies, ministries, and agencies from the CIS and other countries, Belarusian and foreign companies, international organizations, and scientists.
