Young researchers from Belarus and Russia will send tomato seeds into space to study the effects of radiation

17:38, 20 August

School students from Russia and Belarus will participate in an unusual space experiment. They will send tomato seeds of various varieties (Pinocchio, Gorokh, Byche Serdtse, and Donetskiy) into Earth's orbit aboard the Bion-M No. 2 biosatellite.

After returning to Earth, the young researchers will plant the seeds and observe their growth to find out how the space flight affected the germination and yield of the tomatoes. The experiment is being conducted with the support of the IBMP RAS.
