“BRSM has long maintained close cooperation with the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In June last year, we joined the SCO Youth Council as the national representative from Belarus. Teams of our activists have the opportunity to exchange best practices of other countries in working with youth in various fields, participating in large-scale projects, forums, and programs. This allows us to subsequently introduce innovative approaches, effectively integrate into international processes, and create favorable conditions to further strengthen our country’s international standing,” Yekaterina Lakisova said.
According to her, this year, which marks the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the forum’s main theme is the role of youth in preserving historical memory. More than 100 representatives from all ten SCO member states took part. The Belarusian youth delegation consisted of 11 people, including representatives of public associations, business communities, and young entrepreneurs. The program includes educational sessions, lectures, and discussions with experts from SCO countries. The Belarusian participants shared their experience in implementing national projects and reached preliminary agreements with Kazakhstan on cooperation in employing young people as part of student teams.
“One of the areas of Belarus’ cooperation with other SCO member states is joining efforts to develop youth entrepreneurship. The key goal of the business incubator is to support projects that are successfully implemented in their home countries, help them expand internationally, and scale their ideas to SCO markets. The acceleration program will run until 23 August, offering participants a rich business agenda with foreign experts in the field of foreign economic activity. Four Belarusian youth business projects will be presented in a pitch session to investors,” Yekaterina Lakisova stated.
As part of the educational program, Belarusian mentors will conduct two expert sessions: “New Marketing: How to Talk to Customers Today” and “Working with the Community: How to Build a Business in the Era of Cooperation and Meaning”.
The Belarusian delegation is participating in the SCO Youth Forum and the SCO Business Incubator International Youth Acceleration Program. The in-person part of the events is being held in Omsk, which is the youth capital of Russia in 2025.
