A photo album “Rarities of the Military History Museums of Belarus and Russia” has been presented in Minsk. State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota took part in the event via videoconference. He noted that Russia and Belarus were doing everything possible to preserve the memory of the Great Victory. For example, the Union State Standing Committee together with interested organizations publishes books about the feats of Soviet people, modernizes the existing and builds new WWII memorials.

Grigory Rapota said that the new title, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory, follows a series of other projects on the subject of the Great Patriotic War.
“We issued books about the heroes of the partisan land. Then there was the book “Vperyod, Na Zapad! Operatsiya Bagration” (“Command Forward, to the West! Operation Bagration”), devoted to the liberation of Belarus in 1944. It was a brilliant military campaign, which made it possible to liberate Belarus from the Nazis in just four months. We are preparing to release two more books. Moreover, we are working on the original layout of the two volumes dedicated to the battles of Rzhev during the Great Patriotic War,” commented the State Secretary.
He noted that the Rzhev Memorial has already been completed. Museum complex of the Brest Fortress is also being developed.
“These are the very issues that we have undivided opinion about. It was an awful tragedy for millions of people, not only in the Soviet Union, which bore the brunt of the victory, but also for other peoples. The bitter trials that fell to the generation of the war years are just incomparable with what we are experiencing now. However, I believe we all will soon overcome this situation and work in the same, or maybe more energetic way,” said Grigory Rapota.
Vladimir Amarin, Deputy State Secretary, Member of the Union State Standing Committee, added that it was the fifth book published over the last year and a half with the support of the Standing Committee. In his opinion, the main goal of all these titles is to preserve the memory of the feat and valour of the victorious people, retain historical truth and pass it to future generations so that they will be raised on the best examples from our common history.
