A year ago, the Belarusian Republican Pioneer Organization (BRPO) signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Schoolchildren’s Movement (RSCM). The associations have already implemented two large children’s projects, said Chairperson of the BRPO Alexandra Goncharova in an interview with the National Press Center of Belarus.

Alexandra Goncharova said that the children’s associations find it difficult to maintain relations: firstly, there is a large distance between the countries, and secondly, Belarus and Russia have different territorial scales and possibilities. Despite this, two projects have already been completed over the past year – a sports one and an intellectual one.
“The first project, named “Sports Fanatics”, was a rope-skipping competition. The essence of the competition was to skip the rope a certain number of times within the given period. All in all, over 600 schools participated in the competition. Out of ten schools-winners, four were Belarusian ones,” the speaker commented.
They also implemented a “Make a Gift of a Book” initiative timed to the International Book Giving Day. “Children sent each other books with well wishes. Many Belarusian youngsters sent their Russian friends books written in Belarusian by Belarusian authors,” said Alexandra Goncharova.
Moreover, they held some seminars and forums for the leaders of the pioneer movement. Another event is scheduled for June 1st. It will be a round table dedicated to the Children's Day.
We would remind you that Belarus and Russia celebrate the Pioneer Day on May 19th. Celebratory assemblies, initiation of children into pioneers and other public events are arranged for the festive occasion.
