Russian expert: Situation on the border is another attempt to destroy Belarus

The situation on the border is another attempt to destroy Belarus as a state, Russian journalist and political analyst Mikhail Markelov said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel while commenting on the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border, BelTA has learned.

“They want to destroy it as a state. This is not just an issue of President Lukashenko. We saw the same situation in Venezuela where they tried to overthrow the legitimate authorities there. It is all aimed at destroying the statehood, an attempt to divide, to break us up into national apartments. This is an attempt to split society and segregate it, when a Belarusian goes against another Belarusian with the desire to seize power in the country illegally,” said Mikhail Markelov.

According to him, Poland is using this situation with refugees to solve its issues with the EU. “They have long-standing problems and conflicts, and this crisis has just emerged. Look, they are saving the EU. From whom? Are you saving the EU from refugees? Then why are they safely getting to you through other countries? They are going to Germany, so deal with this issue,” the political scientist said.
