Online projects of Belarus' Kupala Theater draw 100,000 audience

Around 100,000 people viewed online projects of Belarus' Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater, BelTA learned from the press service of the theater.

On 27 March, the theater started streaming its productions on the internet. “Online streams of several productions from the theater's archives and current repertoire, live streams (the projects Kupala Theater Online and Kupala Theater at Home), interesting projects (I Wanted to Read!), the second issue of the Kupalauski magazine are all available in the digital format. The theater's unique events caught attention of viewers both in Belarus and abroad. In April-May, our online projects drew an audience of 100,000 people,” the press service said.

The Kupala Theater Online and Kupala Theater at Home projects featured nine productions from the current repertoire and archives, a meet-the-artist session, and a performance dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the theater. The new project “I Wanted to Read!” was especially popular. The two-day event brought together 13 actors, and the total number of views topped 22,000. During the project, the actors recited excerpts from the most prominent works of Belarusian literature, famous works of foreign and modern Belarusian authors.

On 4 May, the theater staged an exclusive live stream of the production The Harvest. On 1-8 May, artists recited parts from Mikhas Zaretsky's work on the YouTube channel and Instagram account of the theater.

The Yanka Kupala Theater also filmed a special video “We will Return! Yours, Kupala Theater” that shows the life of the theater without audience to the music of Dmitri Shostakovich. The video is available on social media accounts and You-Tube channel of the theater.
