The Ministry of Foreign Affairs owes a big one to the country, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said when announcing new appointments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and new ambassadors, BelTA reports.

"I will not dwell on the ambitious tasks that we have to address. I will only say that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs owes a big one to the country, without going into detail... You know what I am talking about. Therefore, we should make sure we do not stumble over these things again in the future," the head of state said.

New distribution of powers between the deputy ministers is optimal, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said. "This should give a new impetus to the work of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," he said.

According to him, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik, given his many-year diplomatic service, will be responsible for cooperation with Western Europe, the United states, distant countries, and will supervise the state protocol service. “He has handled these issues before. He is good at it. He knows how to work in those areas. It is very important now,” the minister of foreign affairs said.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich will be in charge of the activities of Belarusian foreign institutions at international organizations. “Given the fact that there is a certain inaction on the part of our Western partners in the bilateral relations, it is very important to work in international organizations,” said Vladimir Makei.

Describing Igor Nazaruk, the minister mentioned the head of state's instruction to find a person who has competencies in the real economy sector. In his new position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he will be in charge of all integration and foreign economic issues.
