Katalin Novak elected as new Hungarian president

Hungary has elected its first female president. The Hungarian parliament has elected Minister of Family, Youth and International Relations Katalin Nowak as its new head of state, reported RIA Novosti.

Hungary's National Assembly on Thursday elected Katalin Nowak, the vice-president of the ruling party and Minister of Family, Youth and International Relations, as the new head of state.

Novák received 137 of the 199 votes cast.
