Recently, the first meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and implementation of the joint Belarusian-Russian patriotic, historical, and patriotic youth project "Train of Memory" was held in the Council of the Republic, chaired by Natalia Kochanova.
In 2026, it will be held for the fifth time and, as per tradition, will begin from the walls of the Brest Fortress and conclude on July 4 in the hero city of Minsk.

"The 'Train of Memory' project is a serious one – its initiative was supported by the Presidents of Belarus and Russia and all government agencies," noted the Speaker of the Council of the Republic. "Over the course of half a month, children travel through cities in Belarus and Russia, learning about history and visiting memorial sites associated with the Great Patriotic War," said Natalya Kochanova.
The 'Train of Memory' brings together the descendants of the victors from countries of the former Soviet Union. Over the years, the geography of the project's participants has grown to 15 countries – former Soviet republics.
"Interest in the project is growing; this year alone, nearly 12,000 Belarusian schoolchildren have already applied to participate," noted the Organizing Committee of the 'Train of Memory' meeting.
NOTE: The 'Train of Memory' project, initiated by Speakers of the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council, Natalya Kochanova and Valentina Matviyenko, has become extremely popular among young people. In each city along the "Train of Memory" route, memorial events are held related to the Great Patriotic War and other important historical dates in Belarus and Russia.
