Belarus harvests over 3.7m tonnes of grain

Some 3.7 million tonnes of grain have been harvested in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 4 August, 1,153,500 hectares of grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat, millet) were harvested, or almost 53.8% of the target. In the lead is Brest Oblast with 235,100 hectares or 69.7% cropped. Gomel Oblast harvested 200,900 hectares or 57.7%, Grodno Oblast – 134,300 hectares, or 43.1%, Minsk Oblast - 247,300 hectares or 51.9%, Mogilev Oblast - 164,800 hectares or 50.5%, Vitebsk Oblast - 171,400 hectares or 49.7%.

All in all, 3,735,000 tonnes of grain were threshed, with the average yield at 31.8 centners per hectare.

The second hay cutting was completed on 743,800 hectares (91.6% of the plan). A total of 810,400 tonnes of hay (72.6% of the target) has been harvested so far, as well as 11,628,000 tonnes of haylage (86.1%) and 332,800 tonnes of silage (1.72%).
