The Union parliamentarians discussed the modernization of the radiation monitoring system within the framework of the SG

A meeting of the Commission on Natural Resources, Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia was held in Minsk and Moscow via video conference.

Deputies of the House of Representatives Zhanna Chernyavskaya and Yuri Narkevich took part in it.

The event was attended by Deputy State Secretary of the Union State Ella Selitskaya.

The meeting discussed issues of overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, ensuring biological safety and work plans for the coming year. 

The members of the commission received information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, as well as the Standing Committee of the Union State on the preparation of the final report "Programs of joint activities of Russia and Belarus within the framework of the Union State for the protection of the population and rehabilitation of territories affected by the Chernobyl disaster."

Special attention was paid to the project "Modernization and development of the radiation monitoring system of the Union State using mobile radiometric measurement platforms."

The deputies also discussed proposals for the implementation of Priority Areas for ensuring biosafety and environmental protection in the framework of implementing the provisions of section IV of the Security Concept of the Union State, approved in December 2024.
