The Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States approved a strategy for scientific and technological development for 2026-2035 at a meeting in Minsk. The Interstate Council for Cooperation in Science, Technology, and Innovation will coordinate the strategy's implementation.

The Scientific and Technological Development Strategy aims to define a vector for a joint response to global challenges and strengthen the position of Commonwealth countries globally through deepening integration in critical areas of science and technology. The key mission of the strategy is to strengthen scientific and technological sovereignty, ensure sustainable socioeconomic development, improve the well-being of the population, and enhance the competitiveness of national economies through the creation of a common scientific and technological space.

The strategy defines the goals, key objectives, principles, and priorities of cooperation among CIS member states in scientific and technological development and establishes the forms and mechanisms for its implementation.

Implementation of the strategy is intended to create additional conditions for the formation of a common scientific and technological space within the CIS, the introduction of advanced developments into the real economy for the production of high-tech products, and increased investment in research and development.
