Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Valentin Rybakov has revealed details of a recent meeting of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and the U.S. president’s representative John Coale.

What impressions did the Americans have after the conversation with the Belarusian leader? What did the U.S. president gift to the president of Belarus? What will Aleksandr Lukashenko’s letter to Donald Trump contain? These and other questions were answered by the Belarusian diplomat on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.

According to Valentin Rybakov, representatives of the American delegation had a pleasant shock. Before going back to their hotel they did not let Belarus’ representative to the UN go for over ten minutes.

“They admired the president’s conversation manner. They admitted they had not expected the conversation to be so open and honest, that the president is completely knowledgeable about the topic, knows all the issues that had been raised and discussed,” the diplomat said.

Valentin Rybakov said that Donald Trump had presented a sufficiently symbolic gift to Aleksandr Lukashenko: a stylish baseball cap with the figures 45-47. These figures indicate that Donald Trump is the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America.

“There were also cufflinks with the image of the White House,” he added.

BelTA reported earlier that John Coale brought a letter from Donald Trump to Minsk. He read it out during the meeting with Aleksandr Lukashenko. In turn, the Belarusian leader has also written a letter to his American counterpart.

When asked about what the letter says, Valentin Rybakov said: “I know the letter has been written.” The diplomat did not disclose any details.

News about a new round of Belarusian-American negotiations has been released this week. It was revealed that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko had had a meeting with the U.S. president’s representative John Coale. It was not the first time the American had been to Minsk. He already negotiated with the Belarusian head of state in June as part of a delegation led by the U.S. president’s special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg.
